The year we make stuff work.

For the first episode of the new year, it was fitting to choose David Shire as the soundtrack profile, especially considering his history with film music, whether it's exploring the sound editing behind The Conversation, how the score to 2010 was written then ruined and his input into the sound mixing for Zodiac. His score for the original The Taking of Pelham One Two Three is one of my favourite soundtracks ever; partly based on how atonal, brassy and outright badass it sounds, along with a mild homesickness for New York City.
The first part of the show collects some more electronic pieces that fit in with the 2010 vibe. The Acid Washed video for General Motors, Detroit, America had been beguiling me for a few weeks, but eventually, the song itself took over so my mind's not always full of moving lines and circles.

Otherwise, I'll update a few more shows in this crude blog way, but with the new year, I'm looking at hosting this site elsewhere, along with a much needed makeover. As well, the next episode lost its podcast, so I'm going to see if I can come up with a makeshift download in lieu of what was originally aired. Hopefully, I'm properly caught up to highlight the broadcasts made with the new show name, since this is the last radio free gak that can be found online.
Episode 95 spent its holidays in a western mood, with country carols that aren't often heard. That and Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas.
