Her name was April.

For any of you still relying on the XML feed, I'm on the cusp of sorting that out, barring any additional restricted access to this server. Any scrap of free time I somehow had was perfectly timed with lack of access to the site, complicating matters extensively. I'll try to set some time in the next week to straighten life up here along with preparing for a possible move.

Right. In April there were many episodes. These are the standard RFG shows.

rfg #61 - Murky islands [84.3 Mb]

After a recent dubstep concert, there's a decent chunk of time at the beginning of the show focusing on the genre. Then, the electronic sounds slowly psyche towards the heady soundtrack to Vampyros Lesbos, a cult film if there ever was.

rfg #62 - Three microphones, two turntables and one quiet computer [83.9 Mb]

The first half hour of the show had an apparently quiet computer, which turned out later to be muted at the software level. The second half hour had me jam all the microphones towards my face with different pan levels for bizarre stereo action. The third half hour focused on The Limey; I had hoped to cover more about the intellectually combative DVD commentary between the director and the screenwriter but opted not to. (For those who are truly curious, the screenplay to The Limey offers some more thoughts to chew on.) I even brought the DVD to play the song excerpt from the film referenced in The Limey: Poor Cow since it's not in a recognizable form on the soundtrack.

rfg #63 - The tall shadows of cough syrup [82.9 Mb]

The Luis Bacalov profile had actually been bumping around as a potential segment in various earlier shows, so it was time to bite the bullet and highlight the Argentine composer's work, at least those tracks I could find. The rest of the show was pretty lo-fi, which was another theme that I had attempted to fit in earlier.
