I'm full of wisdom.
For any of you still relying on the XML feed, the blog itself is broken whilst I figure out an upgrade. Imagine though that I don't have the keys to the car, so these words are the equivalent of me pushing the car around from week to week.
rfg #55 - Punchy punchy darkness [88.4 Mb, 96:33]
After having last week off, this episode was pretty much written in advance to an apartment upgrade, though obviously, I had to wait for some Oscars results first to help with a few songs. Otherwise, as promised last episode, there was recent David Byrne guest appearances and a look at the score to "The Dark Knight", somehow left off the Oscar nominees though it won a Grammy.
This show runs a few minutes longer since I jumped on air early due to a confusion on part of the previous show's rotating hosts and a scheduled programmers' meeting. A few albums were put on autoplay but the last song ended early. I left off most of the PSA's that were played as I got ready.
One thing I've been doing recently is just a quick vocal intro before diving into the first song, which was unplanned but allows for a definite beginning. Upon reflection, part of its usage comes from the dearly missed yet massively influential Brave New Waves. I'm doing more of the Patti Schmidt-era intro, though if I had a longer show, I'd definitely aim for the Brent Bambury-styled random prelude. "No one ever died falling off a barstool."
I like this show. There was a little studio peering as a few DJ's congregated around the window once the meeting I missed was over, mostly at the upgraded equipment in the studio (two monitors = good). There was some unintentional laughter over parts of the prior meeting I did attend and there was a caller asking about the awesome (though "awe-skum" much to the caller's blushing giggling) Del Shannon edit. All good.
